My name is Ailed Nieves, and I am an Herbal Health Practitioner and Herbalist. I founded It Really Works Soaps & Salves Holistic Spa in 2019 with a passion for helping people explore natural approaches to comfort, self-care, and everyday wellness.
I believe true wellness involves caring for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. That belief is at the heart of everything we do. Through thoughtfully handcrafted botanical products, herbal wellness guidance, and holistic services, our goal is to provide natural options that support relaxation, comfort, balance, and a healthier lifestyle.

Our mission is to educate and empower individuals to become proactive participants in their own wellness journey. We believe you are your own best advocate, and that knowledge, intentional self-care, and the resources provided by nature can play an important role in supporting a healthier, more balanced lifestyle.
Through herbal education, we encourage people to discover the traditional uses of herbs, fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants while making informed choices about their everyday well-being. We are committed to thoughtfully crafted herbal wellness and bath and body products, with an emphasis on quality ingredients, responsible practices, and respect for nature.
Sustainability is more than a practice—it is part of our philosophy. As we grow, our mission is to put people and their well-being first while making thoughtful choices that contribute to a cleaner, greener, and healthier future.
Our Vision
Our vision for It Really Works SSHS began long before the idea of a full holistic wellness retreat. In 2018, we built our first family greenhouse—starting in our basement and expanding outdoors. We also created an aquaponics system using bluegill fish and successfully grew our own crops. As first-time growers, we faced plenty of challenges, but the experience strengthened our appreciation for sustainability, self-sufficiency, and the connection between nature and everyday wellness.
That experience planted the seed for a much larger dream: to create a peaceful destination where wellness, nature, self-care, and sustainable living come together. Our long-term vision is to grow many of the herbs, fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other botanicals used throughout our business and incorporate them into our products, wellness experiences, and future retreat.
We envision beautiful gardens and walking paths surrounded by flowers, herbs, trees, and edible plants—a place where guests can slow down, reconnect with nature, relax, and temporarily step away from the demands of everyday life.
Our future holistic wellness retreat will bring together our handcrafted botanical products with restorative experiences such as massage therapy, halotherapy, steam and sauna experiences, hydrotherapy, meditation and relaxation spaces, wellness education, fitness, and other holistic services. Fresh produce, herbal teas, botanical products, and thoughtfully prepared wellness offerings will further connect what we grow with what we provide.
At the heart of this vision is self-sustainability with purpose. We want to create more than a spa. We envision a peaceful wellness destination where people can experience nature, nourishment, relaxation, education, and intentional self-care in one welcoming environment.
What began with a family greenhouse is growing into a vision for something much greater—a place to restore, reconnect, learn, and simply be.
